Stampscapes #3 Summerscapes Card

One thing I learned through this card, waves are hard to color!  Got the basic layout done, but it took several tries to get the color down.  Did use some Copics to color in the rocks, but otherwise found the stylis tool worked better than using Copics to do the coloring.

Stampscapes #2 card for Summerscapes

Had better luck today with coloring in the cards for Summerscapes.  Will post the other card tomorrow.
There are four stamps used here.  The rest is just coloring in with the stylis tool and dye base ink pads.  Think I will keep this class to four cards.  The coloring definately takes some time and patience.

Inky Antics Card

Took a printed 12X12 piece and cut it to make this long card.   Layered it onto a gray paper and then onto a lavender paper.  Then all that was added were these two parts from an Inky Antics clear set.  The paper was very smooth, so I opted for a black dye ink to stamp the images.  All done!

Embossed Dragonfly

Michael Strong has great graphic stamps.  This one made embossing it easy with it's clear bold design.  Tried it out with red embossing powder and liked how it looked.  A few glitter stickers were added once embossed.  The image was then glued to a silver mirror paper. (That's why the card is at such an odd angle here.  The mirror is truely reflective!)

Summerscapes Card #1 with Stampscapes Stamps

Seems fitting for Memorial Day weekend that a Summer card is posted.  I've been laboring away at creating a new class with Stampscapes stamps.  Been wanting to do a "Summerscapes" class for a while.  The basic scenes are done, now I'm working on getting the colors.  It's a work in progress, but I'm happy to have this card done.  Hope to post the class for July at Angela's Happy Stamper.  Will show you the cards as I finish them.

Simple is Good

Did a couple of simple but nice cards.  Here is the first one.  I spliced the image and slightly seperated the pieces.  When it was laid out on the card, it looked complete for what I wanted.  As I say, simple is good!  The words are by Hero Arts and are stamped with a black dye ink.

Bookmark Birthday Card

I have a friend who is a librarian.  She's having a birthday soon, so I used the Bo Bunny book paper and made this card for her.  The quote is by Impression Obsession.  The brown paper is textured with a screen stamp by Magenta and was inked with a Distress brown and then wiped with a paper towel.  The tag was inked with another Distress pad and a Mary Engelbriet stamp was put on it in black.  The tag comes out and becomes a bookmark.

Joy Card

Just finished a few cards which always brings me joy.  We have been hosting my sister-in-law for several days.  Had lots of fun being tour guide, but it kept me pretty busy and I just now have had a chance to catch up with my blog.  Used Memory Box paper for this card.  They sell sets of 6X6 so most match when mixed together.  The words are by Inkadinkado and are stamped with Versafine purple.  The card was enhanced with silk leaves, a felt purple flower sticker, and a printed paper flower which has a lavender gem brad through it.  Although I used rather cool colors, think this card works with the sentiment.

Embossed Star Tree

Embossing paste was used on this tree.  There are two kinds of embossing paste.  Opaque and translusent.  When using translusent, you must first put the color down on the card.  Stencil brushes and Color Box Chalk pigment ink were used to put this color down over the brass stencil by Lasting Impressions.  Once the ink was dry, the paste is then swiped over the stencil with a palette knife.  The stencil is removed and the paste is left to dry.  Although the paste comes out white, you can watch it become clear as it dries.  Once dry, the star was layerd onto the card with a bit or raffia.  Baker's twine attached the tag onto the raffia.  Words are by Sweet and Sassy.  Self adhesive gems were added to the tree.

Honey Pop Card

Have you seen the cards done with honeycomb paper by Inky Antics?  It's was such a happy surprise the first time I opened one of these cards.  There are numerous different sets, and I added this one to my Techniques III class.  They aren't hard to do, so long as you follow the few directions that come with the set.  But, you can also down load directions off their web site.  The latest honeycomb paper is the multi colored and you can see how much fun it is.  We also used a Printworks cloud stencil to create the inside of the card.  The animals were colored in with Copic markers.  On the front the top die cut is by Nestiblities, the bottom one is by Memory Box.

Micro Glitter Card

One new technique that has been added to my Techniques III class is the use of Micro glitter.  The glitter has been used two different ways on this card.  The little shell is actually a sticker with glitter added to a double stick adhesive.  The main shell was done with the use of a Dreamweaver stencil and then three different colored glitters added with the use of masks.  Nice thing about glitter is that it seems to photograph well.  This class will be on today at Angela's Happy Stamper.

Dragonfly Dreams

Masking and brayering were used to create this card.  A piece of Eclipse tape was punched with a green Marvy punch and placed on white glossy paper.  Then a Kalidacolor pad was inked with a brayer and then the color was rolled onto the card.  Remove the Eclipse paper, and you are left with a big moon.  The moon was then sponged with a yellow pad.  The grass is by Hero Arts and was stamped in blue dye ink.  The dragonflies are by Magenta and a Stardust pen was added to the wings.  Words are Serendipity.

Gold leafing card

Thought it was time to update my Techniques III class.  This is the new gold leafing card for the class.  It's hard to see in the photo, but a Memory Box stamp with leaves and script are on the front.  You must use Stazon when stamping on acetate.  The image was stamped in black.  The acetate has adhesive on the back which is where the gold leafing sticks.  A black paper was put behind the gold leafing part to help define the contrast between the leafing and the rest of the card.  A piece of mulberry paper was torn and placed behind the black piece.  The words are from a Printworks stamp.

Stampendous Iris

A different type of embossing today.  But first on the card was the design piece which was stamped with a Brillance pad.  Next the iris was inked in black.  Then the image was colored in with Copic pens.  Next, using a Versa Marker pen, any where where the embossing was to be, the pen was used.  "Antique Rose" Distress embossing powder also by Stampendous was poured on and then heated from underneath the paper.  More Brillance was added to the paper corners with a sponge applicator.  The words are by Memory Box and are inked in black dye ink.  The embossing adds a nice bit of texture to the card.

Embossed Koi

Pulled out some metallic paper to go with this Koi fish.  The fish was created with a Dreamweaver stencil and embossing paste on a black piece of cardstock.  Once the paste was dry, a stipple brush and glue pad made a tacky surface.  Thne Pearl-ex was brushed over the top of the fish.  It was then cut out and taped onto the oval and layered onto the card.  This card has nothing to do with Mother's Day, but I want to send a shout out to all you moms on your special day.  You've got the most important job in the whole world!

Impression Obsession Card

One more ribbon card.  The background was done with an embossing folder and the Cuttle bug.  Once embossed the words were colored with an  "Antique Linen" Distress pad by running the pad over the paper.  The printed paper is by Bo Bunny and was punched out with a purple Marvy round punch.  This was layered onto a green round Marvy punch.  The words are from a clear set by I.O. and were inked in a dark brown dye.  The satin ribbon was run around a brown paper and then taped on the back.  The bow was tied and glued on.

Double ribbon card

Two ribbons were overlapped on this card.  The wider ribbon was cut and laid down with double stick tape.  Then the thinner ribbon went all the way around the card and was tied with a knot in the front.  The flowers were glued on top.  Light pink gems by Memory Box were placed in the middle of the flower.  The stamp and words are by Rosie's Roadshow and were inked in black dye ink.  The flamingo was colored in with Copic markers.

Sending Joy Card

Had a friend call with a scrapping crisis.  She volunteered to make a book for a friend.  However, she had never scrapped a book before!  Then she procarastinated until she called me in desperation and was willing to drive 4 plus hours for me to help her get it started.  So, I had to put card making on hold.  Happily, my friend is finishing up the book back at home now.  And, as you can see, I've been able to get back to doing cards.  Ahh, the universe feels much more in balance. So it seemed fitting to do a card about joy.

On a white piece of paper a strip of double stick tape was placed over the whole piece.  The ribbon was laid in the middle of the tape, and then loose glitter was poured over each edge.  This was then adheared to the card.  "Sending joy" is a phrase from a clear Impression Obsession set and was inked in black onto a white card.  Flowers were taped down and small clear gems were added to the center of the flowers.  Add the orange paper and it's all set.

Jen's Birthday Card

I was the happy recipient of this lovely birthday card from my fellow stamp friend, Jen.  She used stampy by Papertrey to make this card.  This is definately an example of how a card can also be a gift!  Thanks, Jen!

Memory Box and IO Thank You

Thanks to my birthday last week, I ran through all my "thank you cards" that I recently made.  So, time to make some more!  This time I found some strips of Memory Box paper I had left over after doing another project.  They were quickly cut to fit the cards and taped down.  Took this "thank you by Impressions Obsessions and inked it with an Adorandack "Expresso Brown" which gives a great dark brown color.  Added some pink gems also by Memory Box, and all done.  Was able to crank out half a dozen of these.  The brown paper is from a Memory Box packet and is white inside.

Just for You #2

Here's another cup from the Imaginations paper that was used on yesterday's card.  This time it was paired with fancier paper and a die cut from Memory Box.  To adhere the delicate die cut to the card, I used "Glue Gloss" which looks a lot like lip gloss.  You can just dab and dot it where you need it, and it creates a tacky spot once dried.  Works really well with delicate paper items like this die cut.

For You

Thought this made a good Mother's Day card.  The paper is by Imaginations and is a series of cups on different colored blocks.  Makes for easy cutting.  The words are from a new set by Cat's Pajamas.  Inside the words (from the same set) say "It's your day".  Would be a great card to slip a Starbuck's gift card into for a mom.

Mom day card with Wide Ribbon

Yesterday's card showed how to use wide ribbon on a card.  Here is another way to use wide ribbon.  Double stick tape was laid down first on the card so there would be extra tape showing past the ribbon.  The ribbon was placed, and then fine transluscent glitter was poured over the card.  The glitter stuck to the sticky tape.  Glitter was also used around the Mother's day image which was also laid on a piece of double stick tape.  The words were then layered up on more paper.  A heart sticker was attached to the flower which had a red gem in the middle of the heart.  Made this card for my mother in law.  She is having trouble seeing things these days, so I thought the bright color and glitter would be easier for her to see.
