Card for a great niece

Hard for me to imagine, but we had our first great niece born recently.  Used the same paper pack from yesterday's card.  Added some sponge elements with a dark brown.  Glad to have this pack ready to make a quick card.

Kaiser Card

Another card using paper packs.  This one was specifically done for babies.  Good news is there is paper for both boys and girls in the same pack.  The tags and and extra paper elements were all in the same pack.  Twine and button and gray paper were my contributions.

Kaiser papers

No stamping on this card today.  So why post it?  Well, truth be told, I do like the paper packs.  They make great quick easy cards that look great.  When I'm working with paper packs, what I end up focusing on is the structure of the card.  Don't have to worry about the medium for making it, so I can focus on the construction elements.  It's a good way to stretch me into designing cards new ways.

Sweet N' Sassy Die card

There are coordinating stamps to go with this set, but I wanted to try and see what a card would look like with just using the die.  Without the details the stamps would provide, looking at the die, I thought a silhouette image would work.  The blue was brayed on with a "Blue Breeze" Kalidacolor pad.  To add more depth to the images, matte silver paper was also die cut and layered behind the black.  Think the only thing I'd do different on the next card is to put the legs of the deer behind the ground pieces.  Other than that, this works for me.

Variation of the Candle Card

This card used a foil printed paper on the front as well as a dry embossed paper which was cut with an oval die.  The words are from a Memory Box die.  The candle was die cut first and then stamped.  It is a very close image to the cut, but I didn't find matching them up to be a problem.  Color was added with Copics to the the candle.  Ok, will move on to other cards tomorrow.  But, may show some more variations of this card in the future.

Variation of the Sweet n' Sassy Candle Card

Wanted to show this card next because it uses so much of the same elements as yesterday's card.  Do get a whole new look though.

Sweet N' Sassy Candle set

Sweet n' Sassy has this candle with several word sentiments.  It also has a matching die.  The words are all one stamp, and the greetings are from yet another set by S n' S.  Two other dies were also used for this card.  The oval is part of a set by My Favorite Things and the grid is by Memory Box.  The color was added with Copics.  Didn't do as many cards with the candle, but had more fun doing them because I did each card differently.  So here is a great set for those who want multiple cards but don't like the monotony of doing the same card repeatedly.  I'll show a few more of the variations of this over the next couple of days.

Memory Box and Hero Arts Christmas Card

This is the second type of card I made while away.  The words are a brand new die by Memory Box.  The star and die for the star, are by Hero Arts.  The star was die cut first and then the stamp was added.  It was inked with Momento "Bamboo".  I put a grid on my cutting board which made the word die much easier to do.  Kicked out about 40 of these cards.  One more type of Christmas card to show tomorrow.

Christmas Card

While at the beach, I focused a lot on Christmas cards.  This is the first one.  The word is all one die cut done on silver mirror paper.  It was mounted onto a dry embossed paper.  Some more mirror paper is behind the embossed paper.  Happily, it was a pretty easy card to do.

Beach Cards

Well our beach week has come to an end.  It was a grand time!  One of the things we did while away was work on cards.  Will be posting some of those creations starting tomorrow.

Beach Cards

It's beach week for me- one of my favorite weeks of the year.  While I'm gone, I thought I'd post the cards I made to send to folks from the sandy shores where I'll be.  Along with this card, I thought I'd wax a little philosophical about card making.  Not to worry, this will be the only day I get chatty.  In fact, I think I'll just post the cards with no comments other than this since they are quite simple.

I've come to realize in the card making world there are many reasons why folks make cards.  Some enjoy the creative process, some like learning something new, and some like making cards to send to friends.  I like all these reasons.  This week, since I was wanting a lot of cards to send to people, I opted for quick and easy.  Printed papers and packs of preselected papers is the best way to go for cute, fast, and easy.  No great challenges or learning new techniques on these cards.  I needed an abundant amount un a short period of time! So, I hope you can enjoy these cards with me this week.  I'll be enjoying sending them to friends.  It's a nice way to keep in touch with folks, and it's always such a treat to get a real letter these days-or so my friends tell me after getting some of my cards.

Beach Card

It's fast approaching-beach time!  I'm starting to get ready.  Been packing not only for sand, but for stamping time.  This is when I get most of my holiday cards done.  Love being there, but I'm in the middle of making all those important decisions of what goes and what doesn't-ack!  So here is a card to help me remember what fun it will be once we get there!

Cat's Pajama's

Bunnies are never better than what Cat's Pajama's create.  They have lots of sets with this bunny, but this is my favorite.  The bunny here was colored in with Copic markers.  The pink piece was embossed with an embossing folder.  The word is from the set.  One of the things I love about this card is how it's ready for so many occasions- just put the right sentiment inside. (birthdays, get well, congrats...)  Always good to have a card ready for whatever you need.

Beach Cards

The word pieces are stickers that came with the paper pack.

Summer Card

The words here are part of the printed paper.  It became the focal point for the card.  To help distinguish the papers, some teal ink was sponged around the edges of the papers.  Embellishments are by Jellibean.

Jellibean Card

Still using the Webster papers here but combined it with some dies by My Favorite Things as well as words by Jellibean.  Been enjoying using some unconventional papers with the sea theme.

Webster Paper

Talk about easy peasy-don't you just love it when the paper does all the work for you?  Just couldn't see a way to improve on this other than to put some cute corners to the paper.  Nuf said.

Elizabeth Crafts

Lots from E Crafts today.  The black paper was embossed with a folder by E Crafts.  It was then rubbed with a white pad.  "Thinking of you" and the lady bugs were also by the same company.  They are all die cuts, of course.  Glue it all together and we get this card.  This will be offered as the free Make It Take It this Thursday at Angela's Happy Stamper store in Reston, VA.

Webster Paper

Another paper pack by Webster.  I loved these sail boats.  Thought the twine went really well with the paper.  The "sail away" is a sticker that came in the paper pack.

Webster's paper

We got some great paper packs in that included some punch out stickers.  Makes for great quick cards.   The sticker was attached to the striped piece.  Makes me want to go eat some watermelon!

July 4th Card

Hope you all have a fun and safe 4th.  It will be a quiet one for us-no complaints.  I'm still coming off my away time.  This card was a quick easy one.  The red is a printed paper.  The stars are paper clips with ribbon knotted through them.  Words were stamped with a Versafine blue.

Darcie's Card

Ahoy, friends!  I'm back from my vacation just beating out the tropical storm that was headed our way.  Loved being at the beach while the weather was good.  Loved this new set from Darcie's that goes well with my beach-ing ways.  The images were colored in with Copic markers and then cut out and layered onto the card.
