Pirate Card

Sorry this came out so dark, but it's such a fabulous card I had to share it.  It is a birthday card I recently received.  Hopefully you can tell the it was cut out and popped up.  The dimension to this detailed card is amazing.  Color was added with colored pencils.  I love it!

Painting

As you can see, I've been doing lots of painting!  But, not on paper.  Can't tell you how fun it is to take a tired old, ugly item and make it come to life with a little bit of paint!  Before pictures would have really convinced you, but I was so in the moment, I forgot to take the pictures.  We are getting ready for another show at DC Flea next weekend.  In the mean time, we are headed up to Lancaster today for the antiques extravaganza weekend.  Am sure we will find more treasures for the show and we are looking forward to the hunt.  Hope to be back to crafting next week.

Art Journal Class

We had a fun class yesterday doing Art Journaling.  One of the students let me take a picture of her entry.  I love how she interpreted my example and changed it up by adding in some colored metallic pieces.  She also used some gold that had been sprayed with webbing to add more texture to the paper.  Nothing like happy art experiments!

Art Journal Entry

For those who have been patiently waiting to see what we are doing in Art Journaling this month, here it is!  We are working on a new abstract page using paints, metallic papers, and pearlex.  Class will be on Tuesday.  There is a day session and an evening session.  Call the store if you are interested.

Die cut word

Like the card I did yesterday, this word was done on the plaid paper.  Like how it turned out.  This plaid paper goes well with many colors.  Yesterday it was a hot pink color, today a green, and tomorrow?  More options!  Love that.  Also loving these little sequins.  Just adds a nice extra touch to cards.

Memory Box Die

It's so nice to have the words connected in this die.  Once the paper is run through the machine, it all comes out as one piece which makes for ease when manipulating it.  The words were done on the same paper as the bottom piece.  Was happy with the results.

This is the other image we did in our Zentangle class this week.  Once home, I added color and the saying.  Time flies by when doing these designs!

Zentangle Cup

Got to take a Zentangle class yesterday at Angela's Happy Stamper Store.  It was great fun.  These designs always seem so hard until our wonderful instructor walks us through how to do the designs.  I'm always amazed that I can do them.  Came home and added some color and made it into this card.  The cup is a stencil by Dreamweavers.

Artsy Fartsy Card

As you can see, I had fun making this card.  A large background stamp was inked in blue.  Then another background was done in hot pink.  Next, smaller image stamps were done in gold.  The a reinker was dripped down the card and spritzed.  Finally, the words were stamped and added to the card.

Birthday Card

Nothing too fancy here.  Just realized my sister-in-law has a birthday this week and this needs to be in the mail pretty much right now.  Took this friendly little guy and matched him up with some bright and cheerful paper and this saying by Hero Arts.  The mouse was colored in with copics.  Now off to the post office.

Inspiriational quote

Just loved this quote when I found it on Pinterest.  I was asked to speak to a ladies' group yesterday about crafting.  I shared the surprising benefits that Art Journaling has provided me.  Today I'll be teaching a class on techniques at Angela's Happy Stamper store.  Do so love to show how to do things that open up new experiences for folks to enjoy.  Hope you make time to enjoy doing some "art" today.

Knitting Project

One of the unexpected aspects of paper crafting for me has been having greater courage to try new things.  This has morphed over into a new craft project.  I've been getting together with a few friends and have been learning how to knit.  We are making prayer shawls for those who have suffered some sort of loss.  This was my largest project so far, and rather turned into a lap quilt!  Learned lots in the process of making it.  Perfection is not one of things I fight, so sending it on to the person it was intended for in the hopes she knows it was made with love.   As you can see, the cat at least seems to approve.

Mirror Paper

One of the local big box stores was having a sale on matted frames.  Oh happy day!  All you need to then is add your piece and you are done.  I just got back from a friend who has a cricket machine.  It was needed to do this piece.  Another friend is redecorating her bedroom in hot pink, white, and metallic gold.  Obviously, she is much bolder than I am!  To help her celebrate, I got gold mirror paper and made this sign for her room.  The cricket was needed to cut the letters to the size that would fit this frame.  Double stick sticker paper was added before the cutting so the letters could then be peeled and pressed on.   Hard to see here, but the pink paper is a shinny metallic paper.

Sympathy Card

The saying was what I started with for this card.  The flowers are inked with a Momento Sky pad and then added more color to the petals with a Le Plume marker.  It was stamped twice.  Felt the space after the words needed something so the butterfly was added.

Easter Card

Seems late for an Easter card but my friend's mother died on Good Friday so I wanted to wait a bit before sending this.  The color was added to this glossy card with a brayer.  The two stamps were added the image and words.  Simple but works.
