Gelli Print

Love this quote by Impressions Obsession.  It has definitely been true for me.  Really stepped out of my comfort zone with trying out the Gelli plate.  For those who are unfamiliar with it, the plate is a silicon slab that you spread acrylic paint on in small spots and brayer out the color.  Then you can imprint items into the paint.  Then layer on a piece of paper and press the paint on to the paper.  Pull away and there you are!  The best part is that you can quickly put a fresh piece of paper over the plate
and it will pull up the rest of the paint and give you a negative image of what you just made.  Happily, the paint dries very quickly so you can begin to cut and create your cards as soon as you are done with the prints.  Creative Workshop has tons of stencils which is what I pressed into the paint here.  The paper was a piece of printed 12X12 paper that I didn't like much.  Really like it now!

Gelli Prints

Today is a big day for me.  I've been working hard getting ready for the demo I'll be doing today at Angela's Happy Stamper store.  Been doing lots of prints with the Gelli plate and acrylic paints.  I put one of the prints here.  Used a variety of things to create imprints on the paper including paper cups.  Then came the fun of making cards.  Here is one of the cards I did from a similar print.  If you want to know more, I'll be demo-ing from 10:30-12:30 at the store.  Will post more of the cards that I've made this week.  Will also explain how I got the images in later blog posts.  Can tell you this, it's messy but great fun!

Embossed Cards from a Master Board

The circles were made with Nestibilites dies.  The black circle didn't have quite enough flowers, so I cut some more out from the left over paper from the Master Board and I glued them on.  The words are by Printworks.   Even though the base to the Master Board was black, I wanted these cards to be bright and cheerful.  Think they are definitely that!

Cards from a Master Board

Here is the next card I made from the Master Board I showed yesterday.  Added more black from the Paper Pen in the bottom corner.  Think the embossing powder colors show up better today.

Master Board and Card

Spent some time this week getting another Master Board ready.  Decided to try some colored  embossing powders on black paper.  First, though, I put stamped a script stamp with a Color box Chalk ink.  After all the embossing, it was time to try out the paper on some cards.  Here is the first card.  The black dots were made with a black Paper Pen.  Am trying to decide if I like it or would rather have black gems on the card. ( Feel free to give an opinion!)

Cat's Pajamas Beach Card

The hot and humid weather of VA are upon us in full summer force!  Definitely makes me want to go to the beach.  Will have to wait until July before I'm actually there, but making this card helps grow the anticipation.  The image was inked with a black dye pad and then colored in with Copic markers.  A beach ball brad was added beside the words.  The paper is by Bo Bunny.  Really enjoying using brighter colors than I normally would pick.

Patriotic Star Card

We're back from celebrating my mother-in-law's 94th birthday.  The siblings joined us for lunch out at her favorite restaurant.  Brought her home tired, but happy.  She liked her birthday card (which I posted a while ago) that I made her for the occasion.  Now that I'm on to the next celebration (4th of July cards) I liked how this card is good not only for the 4th, but could also be for a July birthday.   The stars are actually from a clear Hero Arts stamp set.  I stamped the back of the printed paper and cut them out.  Love double uses for cards!

Patriotic Card

Am starting to think about 4th of July cards.  This was an easy one with the specialty paper clips and printed paper.  Didn't need to do much else!

Lazy Summer Card

Been working on a Make It Take It for the store for next week.  The main stamps are by Inky Antics which include the pig and words.  Punched out the waves on vellum and stained the paper with a blue dye pad.  Colored in the pig with Copic markers.  The umbrellas are by Great Impressions.  They aren't colored in because I thought color would detract from the pig and the waves.  This was all done on paper cut with an Accu-cut die.

On another note, just wanted to let the local folks know our special two day trunk shows start today.  Our friends from Sweet and Sassy will be here to delight us with all their wonderful samples as well as demos.  Stop by Angela's Happy Stamper store and catch the fun.  Tomorrow we'll have the very talented Darcie Bruno here demo for Just Rite.  Hope to see you there!

Master board Card

As promised, here is the third card we'll be doing in the up coming Master board class.  Besides using the sprays and stencils on this card, the acrylic template by Dana Wakely was used to create the curve.  Then a Cuttle Bug embossing folder embossed the green paper.  This paper was placed between the two pieces of sprayed paper.  Words are by Inkadinkado.

Master board Class

Have another Master board class coming up.  We'll be working with sprays and stencils.  Then we make three cards from our creations.  I had one card ready which I've already posted, but got the other two cards done today.  Here is one of them.  Had a lot of fun making them.  Will show the other one tomorrow.

Travel Card

Some fortunate friends of mine recently did a river cruise in Europe.  My paper scrap pile had this nice piece that seemed a fitting card to send them.  Added some Kaiser college stamps and some ribbon.  Now sending it off to my friends.

Judikins Card

Seems like lots of folks are going through transitions all around me.  I've been working on restocking my retirement and celebration cards.  This one would be good for someone who got a new job after a period of unemployment, or someone moving into a new place.  Whatever the occasion, I'll be ready with this card!

Penny Black Card

Back to some colors and still working on using some scraps.  Put a couple of pieces of printed paper with this new Penny Black saying.  The flourish is by Stampendous and is inked with one of the new Hero Arts colors.  It was also used on the splatter stamp.

Get Well

Made another card from scraps but didn't go quite so wild and crazy on this one.  Just cut and lined up the front and backs to this paper and glued them down.  Little ribbon and a premade tag and it's done.  Didn't make much dent in my scrap pile, but it's a start.

Paper Scrap Card

How's this for color?  I've mentioned before how bright colors is a stretch for me.  Well, guess I've gotten over all my inhibitions!  The saying is by Hero Arts.  Small flourishes are by Memory Box.  Hoping this puts a smile on the recipient's face.

Art Impression Babes

I love these ladies from Art Impression.  They come as a set with great words, but I paired them today with another one of the funny sayings from AI.  The rest of the saying is inside, which says, "of course they mean us!" Colored in these beautiful babes with Copic markers.

Anniversary Card

My husband and I have been planning a little excursion for our anniversary this weekend.  Then it dawned on me that I still needed to do a card.  Happily, a set from Stampendous came in handy along with punch outs from Jellibean's garden set.  Made a nice quick card.  Also added corner punches from a punch by Stampn' Up!

Hero Message

Pulled out the markers and colored in this stamp so it could have all these colors on it.  Found doing it on glossy paper gave the clearest image.  Words are by Hero Arts.  Not sure you can see it, but the white piece was embossed with a Cuttle Bug folder.  Am sending this card to Dad.

Grain of Salt Card

Had one of those moments when you are looking for a stamp and open a drawer and find something completely different that you had forgotten about-and totally scrap what you were doing and make a card with the stamp you discovered.  Or is that just me letting you know how easily I get distracted these days?  Well, atleast I got a card done.  Added some Stickels to the rim of the glass to look like the salt.

Memory Box Die

Here's another Memory Box die.  Glue Gloss makes a good glue for these delicate dies.  You can just tap it over the surface.  The stamp is by DRS and a little sponging was added to the corners.

Memory Box die

The paper here is by Jellibean.  I had half of the card done and just needed an image to finish off the right side.  When I looked through my dies, this one fit perfectly.  The word is a sticker by Yellow Bicycle.

Stampscapes

This is one of the ways to do a quick Stampscapes card.  The white glossy paper was brayered with a Kalidacolor "Melon" pad.  Then all images were stamped with a dark green dye pad onto the brayered paper.  All done!

Memory Box Penguin

Ever get a stamp set you absolutely loved and then end up not using it?  Not sure why, but I've had this set for years and just got around to inking up now.  Today was a perfect day to break it out.  Just needed to go play a bit so this set finally got put to use.  After putting all the pieces together to make this lady, I went searching for a saying to go with her.  This is the one I thought went best.  Coloring was done with Copic markers.

Stamps by Judith

Was looking for an idea for a Father's day card when I came across this bear and a saying by Amuse the says, "I'll love you fur-ever".  Seemed a perfect match.  The bear was inked with Copic markers as was the sign I made.  Sliced the top and bottom of the hand so the piece would go through and look like the bear was holding the sign.  I put the saying inside.

Stampscapes ATC card

I like ATC's but when I do them I usually end up mounting them onto cards like I did with this one.  Only used two stamps and did it all using one pad.  It was a copper metallic pad.  Used the same pad to sponge in the extra color in the corners.

Wobble Card

Dug through my summer paper and stamps and had some seasonal fun tonight.  This Memory Box stamp and words is a perfect match for a "Wobble".  For those who need to know, a "wobble" is a pre made self adhesive spring you attach to a card to make a piece move.  So, behind the penguin is a "wobble" that makes the bird move every time you touch the card.  The beauty of a "wobble" is that it goes flat when you put it in an envelope.  Easy to mail!

Summer Card

Summer has finally arrived here.  This shirt seemed to reflect this feeling well. It was inked with a variety of multicolored pads.  Down at the bottom is a Summer drink that was inked on Shrinky Dink.  It was colored in and then heat set-so it then shrank the image.  It was then glued on the card.  Both the image and the words are by Amuse.
