Stencilgirl Stencil

We just got a new shipment of stencils in at the store.  Loved this stencil!  Since I am in such a fall mood, I immediately thought about using fall colors on the leaves.  A Fudi pen has a great fine point and that is what was used to outline the leaves.  Then color was added with Momento dye inks and a Dove blender pen.  Color was added from light to darker which kept the pads from being contaminated.  The words are by a clear set by Impression Obsession.  Been seeing a lot of folks doing a daily gratitude challenge on Facebook.  Guess it made me think this saying would be a good one for this card.  I'm certainly thankful for great weather this summer and am looking forward to the colors and cool of fall.

Dreamweaver Tone on Tone Halloween Card

Here is the second card for the stencil class using one of the really large stencils from Dreamweaver.  This makes an oversized card.  Added in the orange square and a glittery spider for an embellishment.  I'm doing a day class on Monday the 8th and Tuesday night the 9th.  You can call the store if you want to take the class.

Dreamweaver Faux Cloisnne Pear

Finally getting some of the cards done for my stencil class coming up in September.  This one shows how to do the cloisonné technique.  The color was done with Mometo Luxe pads.  Background was paper embossed with a Cuttle bug embossing folder.

Impression Obsession Leaves

More "fall" today.  This is a new stamp by IO.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to pull out my pan pastels and color these leaves with them.  The image was inked with a brown dye ink and then colored in.  I'm definitely starting to get in the mood for fall.  Now if only the weather would cooperate.

Dylusion Sprays and Embossing Folders

Recently I purchased this stamp and have been wanting to try it out.  In my stash was some paper sprayed with Dylusion sprays that had also had some stencil images sprayed on it as well.  I love the intensity of color you can get with these sprays.  To counter the intensity of the colored paper, I took some embossed white paper done with two different embossing folders.  It was a stretch for me to use a contrasting color, but I think that this blue worked.

Impression Obsession Fall stamp

The oak leaves stamp is all one stamp that is actually one of IO's wall stamps.  It was stamped in a brown ink and then colored in using dye inks and a blender pen.  It was then punched with a round Marvy punch.  The words are by Verses and the wood grain embossing folder is by Cuttlebug.

Impression Obsession Tapestry Stamps

Still on that fall feeling with these new stamps by IO.  Both stamps were inked with Versamagic "Sierra Vista" and the papers were also sponged with the same color.  Little gold pearls seemed to be the right finishing touch.  I tried larger pearls, but since the images were rather finely detailed, the smaller pearls seemed a better fit.

Impression Obsession Vase Die

Had some fun with this die set.  All the vases come together but can be separated.  I did each vase with a different printed paper.  Then some black ink was sponged on the edges of the vases to help them pop.  All the vases were glued down except the orange dotted vase.  It was slightly popped with some foam tape.  The oval dies are by My Favorite Things.  Think I'm starting to get ready for fall with these colors.

Dreamweaver Paste Card

Well, most who know me would no doubt have told you I was "certifiable".  As you might have noticed up on the right side of the blog, now it is official thanks to Dreamweaver!  So, in appreciation for their certification, I am posting one of my favorite stencils by them.  This is the wheat sheaves (and words) both done with copper embossing paste.  Seemed appropriate to do a "thank you" card.  I am working on two classes on paste for the fall highlighting techniques I learned during my training for my certification.  Will be posting pictures soon of cards for those classes.

Verses Birthday and a Darcie's Embossing Folder

I wanted to highlight these words on this stamp.  How to do it so the words don't bleed?  First I stamped with Archival black ink.  This is an India ink which doesn't bleed.  The I used Faber Castel's Big Pens in these three colors.  It worked great!  An embossing folder was used to emboss the red paper.  The paper was mounted onto the card with foam tape as was the word piece.  Definate dimension to this card in a nice way.  Come make this card for free at Angela's Happy Stamper Store today.  It 's our Make It Take It for the week.

Wow and Wplus9

WPlus9 is in the store and this was one of the new sets that came.  I really liked it.  Thought some bright yellow Wow embossing would go well with it.  You do need to start with the embossing, since the Wow interacts with colors.  If you put it down first, the yellow stays nice and bright.  Once the stars were embossed, then two Dylusional sprays were used (after first spraying just water on the paper)  More water was sprayed over the blue.  Then the words were stamped.   This paper was then mounted onto a white card.

Dreamweaver Poinsettia

I placed a very large order with Dreamweaver over the weekend.  Lots of paste, and stencils for the fall and up coming holidays.  I made sure to order in this stencil.  With the glitter on top of the this flower, there is a lot of "wow" factor to the card.  I'm working on two classes using paste.  One for September, and one for October.  Will post samples as I get them ready.  But for now, I'm off to take Dad to the Dr. today.

6x6 Gelli Prints

Turns out the class I gave this month was such a hit, I am offering it again in September.  Here are some of the pages that we made.  There is so much fun to doing Gelli prints.  We did something different with each print, and folks were having such a creative outburst I just let them "have at it" for the last half hour.  I have already posted this month some of the card samples that I showed as ways to put the prints into card form.  Feel free to look back if you are curious.

Art Journal with Dina Wakely Paints and Stamps

Here is the second part to the Art Journal for September.  Here there is a larger use of negative space as the "neutral" components.  The paints and stamps have a lot going on, but with the negative space, it all comes together.  Have a favorite between the two?  I'd love to hear your comments.

Art Journal with Dina Wakely paints and Stencil Girl Stencils

I'm getting classes ready for September which I teach at Angela's Happy Stamper store in Reston.  We have the Art Journal coming up in September and we'll be doing a compare and contrast of styles using Dina Wakely's paints.  On this page the paint was spread all over the page using several colors.  It creates a very busy surface.  To help "neutralize" some of the business, The Stencil Girl stencil was done in solid colors and added to the page.  The butterfly is by Kaiser and was done the same way.  Once applied and dry, Lines and words were added with the Fudi Pen by Ranger.

Stampscapes Mountain Scene

We are back from spending a long weekend in the mountains.  It was my husband's choice for celebrating his birthday.  So, in honor of that, I'm reposting this mountain scene.  All stamps except the words are by Stampscapes.  The road path was stamped in black, mountains is gray, and trees in green.  Color was added to grassy parts with Copic markers.  The sky parts were sponged on with dye base yellow, pink, and blue inks.

Encaustic Wax and Frantage Elements

One last wax sample before moving on.  This board had printed paper added, then some Stampendous Frantage elements. More gold metallic wax was melted in the left corner and paper bits were added to it.  It's great fun if you are willing to try what all can be put in the wax and be a little patient while the wax melts.

Encaustic Wax

A small post card was used on this board.  Then metallic wax was melted over a Crafter's Workshop stencil.  Some wax was melted first, then the stencil was placed over the warm wax and more wax was melted on top.  It's good to leave the stencil there for few moments to cool before lifting.  Good news is that the stencils are not effected at all.

Encaustic Wax

A couple more samples using napkins on the 3x3 chip board.  These samples used colored wax  which were melted over some stencils.  Mica chips, silver beads, and paper bits were added to the wax.  A stamp was used on the board on the right.

Encaustic Wax

Had to do a demo today at Angela's Happy Stamper store.  It was on using the tool by Purple Cow for encaustic wax.  We did the wax on a 3x3 inchie board.  A layer of wax was put on the board and then colorful napkin pieces were laid on the wax.  More wax is melted and layers of glitter, paper bits, and mica chips were added to the wax.  The word is from some printed paper.  Will show some more samples over the next few days.

Dracies Pirate Card

Can you believe it?  A whole line of pirate stamp sets!  I begged my boss to get it and promised her I would buy every set.  Here is a combination of parts from two sets.  Had way too much fun doing this card.

Here is what I put on the inside.

Stencil Girl Stencil

One last print for now.  This actually isn't a gelli plate print.  When working with the plate, it's best to have a scrap paper to the side to roll off any excess paint from the brayer.  This is one of those papers.  They make great textured backgrounds.  No wasted paper!  This stencil was placed on top of the dried paper and the birds were inked with a black Versafine which was sponged on with a sponge tool.  If you wanted the birds to be even more opaque, you could emboss them with a black embossing powder.  Quick, and fun!

Gelli Print & Memory Box Die

This Gelli Print was a combination of a first print with a stencil and then the "clean up" after several prints.  There is always some paint left on the plate, so I just laid this down and picked up the excess.  Then the bike was die cut and positioned on after being sprayed with some adhesive.  Words were stamped with Momento Luxe "Danube Blue".

Gelli Print

Another star card, but this one involves two colors and two stencils.  The circles were done first, and then the stars.  Each one was the first print.  Words are by Verses.

Gelli Print

Another print done with one color and one stencil (by Crafter's Workshop).  Once again, this was the second print.  Once it was dry, some iridescent Stickles was added to each star.  A drop was squeezed on and then spread with a stiff paint brush.

Gelli Print Card

Are you "gellin"?  I think that is a stupid commercial, but I must admit, that line goes through my head every time I take out the Gelli Plate.  Well, I've been "gellin" away and have the cards to prove it.  Will be posting what I've been doing over several days.  Here is the first card.  Just paint and one stencil.  This was the second print from the plate.   Added a phrase by Verses and an embellishment by Jellibean.  Stencil is by Crafter's workshop.

Boy card

On to a boy card.  The sentiment is a quote from a children's book that if you haven't read it, you need to.  Just make sure you have plenty of Kleenex ready.  Guaranteed to make you cry!
