Classes with Jen Star
Hi folks, sorry I've been AWOL for a week. We took in a trip to PA and then I had classes yesterday with Jen. Learned a ton which I hope to share here and in future classes. But, now I'm in the process of getting ready for Saturday's Open House at Angela's Happy Stamper store. I'll be one of several people doing free demos through out the day. Hope to see folks there. It's going to be a fun day!

Here is a different interpretation from yesterday's abstract. Do you have a preference? Leave a comment and share which you prefer and why. Thanks!

Art Journal
Today was Art Journaling. We did abstract pictures. I posted a sample a while back, and worked on doing some variations off of that one. Here is the first page I did. Brighter colors seemed to work well. Another variation tomorrow.

College
There has been quite a bit of emphasis on profiles in the art world. I'm enjoying it. It's inching me closer to drawing. In the mean time, found a stamp that will do. It was used here to create the college and then stickers finished off the card.
A personal update: The house is coming together on the main level. Painters leave today so we can work on the upper level. However, we are also getting ready for a flea market show this weekend. It's our first and we are pretty excited. It is rather cutting into my time though, so may not be posting until next week. Thanks for understanding!

Chunky Dunkin'
We are back from the big birthday celebration. Had a grand time and Miss Dot loved being on the beach looking at all the little ones playing in the sand. My friend and I loved floating in the warm water. Bliss! Unfortunately, we came back to their house to find it was burglarized while we were gone. Miss Dot was very unhappy to see they had absconded with her beloved container of earrings. We quick ran to out and got her a new container and a few pairs to start a new collection. That seemed to cheer her up a bit. I came back to less plastic and lots of beautiful paint. Been busy unpacking and loving having the house looking good again. Oh happy day!

Art Impressions
I'm off to the beach and couldn't be happier. Going with a friend and her mom. We are celebrating her mother's 89th birthday. I thought this card captured our adventure well. It's a great time to be away. The painters have encased everything in plastic. Great for protection and painting but not so great if you have to live in it. Hopefully I'll come back to less plastic. Anyways, I'll be gone until the beginning of next week so won't be posting until I get back. Have a great rest of the week.

Sweet N' Sassy Birthday set
Happy Labor Day to those in the US. Hope you are enjoying your long weekend. Who doesn't like an extra day off? I'm still working on September birthday cards. This image was embossed with white embossing powder onto pages done with the Color Bursts. The background also has white dots sponged on through a Craft's Workshop stencil. This helps to give some nice dimension to the card.

Hero Thank You
As you can see, I get a lot of milage out of this stamp by Hero. A simple, quick card today. Hope you are finding some time to stamp this long weekend.

Hero Thank you
All about Hero Arts today. The background was created with a Hero Stencil and then paint daubers tapped through the stencil. Then the strip of paper was added. The stamp is by Hero and was stamped with a dye Hero pad and then punched out. It was mounted with foam tape to the card.

Spiritual Art Journaling
Spent the evening last night showing two ladies from my church how I've been using my mixed media journal as a spiritual art journal. The first page here was created with Dylusion sprays over stencils. Once dry, I went back over the design with a sharpie. The act of drawing helps to center me and often leads me into prayer. I have several pages similar to this in the journal. The next page was sprayed with water and Color Bursts shaken over it. Then more water was added. It gives an lovely watercolor look to the page. Once dry, I wrote down some verses from 1John that I had been reading about love. Hence the heart with doodles drawn in the middle of the page. I will be offering some classes on Spiritual Art Journaling at Angela's Happy Stamper this fall if you want to know more about this topic. Feel free to look at the website at ahappystamper.com

Birthday card for Dot
This is a pop up birthday card for a friend who will be turning 89 soon. Wanted to make it bright and cheerful. The inside of the card needed to be lined with paper after making the pop up piece. Then the candles were attached with tape. Stickle glitter was added to the flames and also to the front of the card but it didn't show up well on the picture. Hope she likes it. 89 is definitely worth celebrating!

Penny Black Birthday Saying
Fair warning to all you young females- middle age involves a lot less sleep. I didn't know this until I started having sleep issues. Then lots of friends started telling me about their issues. Tthey all had sleep issues in middle age. One woman recently said it's getting better for her but basically it went on for a decade. -A DECADE! So, on that happy note, I want to share one way I find helps me to relax and get tired enough to sleep. Stamping! Card making right before bed must release enough endorphins that I can go to sleep. Believe me, you'll thank me for this info some day. Here is the card I made tonight.

Happy Fall
We are heading into fall, but white embossing powder doesn't need to be left behind as you can see in this card. The leaves were embossed and then color was added through the use of stamp pads and sponging. A piece of acetate was attached with brads over the image and the words were stamped on with Stazon. Here is hoping it's a happy fall to you all!
