July Birthday Card

Here's another one of the birthday cards I've been doing. I do love my Cuttlebug and the embossing folders! Two embossing folders were used here on yellow paper with a white base. A little sanding brought out the white on the card. The green circle was punched with a Marvy punch and then edged with red dye ink. Then lots of layering to finish the card.

Embossing Folder Birthday Card

Got a quick embossing folder birthday card. This is a Cuttlebug folder done with a Memory Box card. Once embossed, the front of the card was sanded so the white would show. Then the words were stamped onto a white paper with a blue scallop Marvy punch. A little ribbon was added with foam tape and it's all done.

Hope Star

We've past the half way mark of the year and this is a "gentle" reminder that if you are going to make your Christmas cards, now may be the time to start. A customer at the store gave me a great idea. I am doing this star and then mounting it onto left over Christmas paper I've accrued over the years. Used a die cut to give the paper some shape. Then layered one more paper behind it before putting it onto the card. Used a pine branch punch to layer behind the star. It's been going well. Was really hustling to get cards done and out last year, so I'm really trying to be better this year.

Not sure where yesterday's card went, but technology and I have a very tenuous relationship, so I'm just going to go a head and hope for the best with this post.
Been working on some May birthday cards. This one was done using a Lasting Impression stencil and was dry embossed. The paper is also by Lasting Impressions. Found a couple of black gems worked perfectly for eyes. On the inside of the card it says,"Hope your birthday was a hoot!"

Dry Embossed Screen Card

Had an enjoyable class last week on dry embossing. This is one of the techniques that was done. After dry embossing the card, a screen was slid under the stencil and color was applied. Once removed, the Memory Box stamp was inked on top of the heart. It's all one color here, but tones of colors can be done and is quite effective. Will have to show that on another card in the future.

Lasting Impression Card

Hadn't done a dry embossing card for some time, so thought this card would fill the bill. The squares on the card came already embossed by Lasting Impressions. All I had to do was mount the white piece onto card stock, and add the rest. The heart was cut and run through a corrugater to make the "ruffled" look. A piece of double stick tape attached it to the card and added some depth to it. The words were inked with dye black ink. Ribbon was attached to the paper clip and attached to the card. Done! Just a reminder though, that I would hand deliver a card like this, or only mail by putting it in a padded envelope.

Dry Embossed Christmas Card

For a clean simple look it doesn't get better than doing an all white look with dry embossing. Two stencils were used both by Lasting Impressions. I placed the middle deer first, which made it easier to place the other deer. The snow was made with a dotted stencil. I just moved it around where I thought the snow would be. Added a touch of color with self adhesive gems. The white paper was then mounted onto navy paper. On the inside was another white paper with the word "joy" dry embossed as well.

Getting close to Halloween so I'm posting a few last cards for the day. This is one of the cards we did in our dry embossing class. Due to the amount of detail, I recommeded this stencil be used on one of the machines now that will dry emboss. Turns into a quick card. Today in our paste class we will use the same stencil with paste. Works well both ways. The word stamp is by Amuse.

Dry Embossed Acorn Card

I have a dry embossing class coming up this week at Angela's Happy Stamper, so I thought I'd post this card. This is card is what folks think of most when dry embossing. But, the class I'll be teaching is actually a technique class because there are actually lots of things you can do with dry embossing. If you are interested, check out my class link. Screen and Stencil Pumpkin

Here's another dry embossed card. Once embossed, I added the color through a screen I placed under the stencil. I used ink pads and stencil brushes to rub the color on. Makes this neat effect. The words were rub-ons. Paper and stencil are by Lasting Impressions. This is one of the techniques we'll be doing in the class I'm teaching in Oct. on ways to dry emboss. Dry Embossed Owl card

I'm sitting here wide eyed as a hootie owl even though it's very late. Don't know why sleep is so far from me. So, this card seemed very appropriate right now to post. The stencil and paper are both by Lasting Impressions. I did the dry embossing on a light box so I could do the various different paper parts easily. I lightly sanded the paper as well. The eyes are from Stamp in the Hand. Hope you are enjoying this after a good night's sleep. If you see me looking a little bleary eyed tomorrow you'll know why.

Pumpkin season-dry embossed

Here's another pumpkin card since it's that time of year. This one was done with one of my most used stencils-a pumpkin from Lasting Impressions. These were done using a stylis tool and light box. Then trimmed, slightly sanded, and layered onto the card. The word was made by an alphabet set inked with black dye ink. I really like this set since all the letters are "boxed" so it makes cutting easy.

Dry Embossing

There are two ways to dry emboss. One way is to use a machine to do the impression. The other way is to use a light box and stylis tool and do the impression yourself. Because I needed to get two different colored parts from one stencil, I found using the light box and stylis tool the best choice for this card.
After embossing, I ran a sander over the paper to highlight the image in white. I could do this because I used colored paper that had a white underside to it. Once you sand it, the white will show through. Double stick tape was used to mount the pieces onto the card slightly raising the image. The words were stamped with dye base ink.
