Questionable Card

For the next two days I'll be posting cards that I'm asking for input on. When I did this card, it seemed ... not quite done. But I couldn't think of what else it needed. So I'm open to suggestions. Would appreciate your input. Thanks.

Buttons and Thanksgiving Card

Cards with buttons are best hand delivered. But, if you are mailing,it's best to use a padded envelope. The brown paper was punched with a Fisker's punch. The yellow piece was cut with a die cut.

First Fall Card

Think I'm rushing things? Well, to my defense, I saw my first set of leaves starting to change while up in PA this past weekend. We've been able to sleep with the windows open the last couple of nights, so maybe that's helped get me in the mood as well. Anyways, this card used a leaf punch done in several colors. The stamp is an oldie but goodie inked in black Versafine. It was stamped first, and that helped with the placement of the leaves. Another punch was used in the corners to create the nice shape. Makes for a fairly large card, but I liked the results.

Get Whale Card

This is a fun image by Cat's Pajamas. I got the word stamp to go with this image-although I can't think who does the word stamp. The image was colored in using a resevoir pen to brush on the blue using a blue water base pad. The waves were done using a Fiskers punch. The whale was cut out and slipped behind some of the waves. Marvy punches were used for the circle punches. It's always nice to give a card to someone sick that will put a smile on the person's face.

July Star Card

Still using the July theme here for another birthday card. There are 7 stars punched here, layered up and glued to the printed paper. The sentiment is stamped with a dye base blue pad. Little bit more layering, and it's all done.

Embossing Folder Birthday Card

Got a quick embossing folder birthday card. This is a Cuttlebug folder done with a Memory Box card. Once embossed, the front of the card was sanded so the white would show. Then the words were stamped onto a white paper with a blue scallop Marvy punch. A little ribbon was added with foam tape and it's all done.

Best Wishes Birthday Card

Been working on birthday cards for July. Went back to a favorite combination of paper for this card. The printed paper is Graphic 45. The words are stamped with a Versafine blue. The white card is actually toned down a bit with some Soft Vanilla Memories dye ink that was sponged onto the white. Didn't add any extra stuff to this card so it would be easy to mail. The punch is an EK success punch.

Hope Star

We've past the half way mark of the year and this is a "gentle" reminder that if you are going to make your Christmas cards, now may be the time to start. A customer at the store gave me a great idea. I am doing this star and then mounting it onto left over Christmas paper I've accrued over the years. Used a die cut to give the paper some shape. Then layered one more paper behind it before putting it onto the card. Used a pine branch punch to layer behind the star. It's been going well. Was really hustling to get cards done and out last year, so I'm really trying to be better this year.

Cuttlebug Egg Card

Traditonal colors for each season are what I normally gravitate to, but I went a bit "out side the box" on this card. Was pleased with the results. The eggs were punched with a Marvy punch on printed paper and then mounted onto the card with dimensional foam tape. The background was done with a Cuttlebug embossing folder using Memory Box paper. This paper is perfect to use with the folders because they are white underneath. Once embossed, all you have to do is sand the paper and the white shows through. The paper behind the embossed part looks rather blue, but it actually is a purple that goes well with the purple on the printed paper and with the ribbon. The words on the tag are by Memory Box and stamped with a Versafine purple onto a tag that was punched from a Stampn' UP! punch.
This will be my last post until I get back from MA. I'm heading up there today with my boss to go on a buying trip for the store. Nothing like spending other people's money! Will post some of the cards I do in classes once I get back. Have a good weekend!

Memory Box Egg Topiary

Got a few Easter cards done the other night. This one uses one of Memory Box's new Easter stamps. It was stamped with Momento dye base ink, and colored in with Copic markers. The greeting stamp is by Stampn' UP!. The punch is by EK Success. The pink velvet ribbon was placed on top of a strip of red line tape. The card is by Memory Box.

Bossy card

Surprisingly:-)I have been accused at times of being a bit bossy. I truly think it comes from all those years of being a teacher. You have a lot of little lives to manage, and helpful "encouragement" and positive "direction" just go with the territory. Now I'm learning the dance of managing older parents-once again trying to encourage and direct without over stepping. Don't always do the right steps. Same goes at work. So this is the card I gave at our staff party last year as a humorous nod to those annoying moments when I may be just a little too helpful and a bit too directive. The white and black pieces were punched with Marvy punches. The image was stamped in black Momento ink and colored in with Copic markers. The saying was inked with Versafine black. The saying on the inside says: "Here's to my friends and the strength to put up with me". On the back of the card where I put my mark that I made the card, I stamped "You're perfect except for 10 or 12 things".

Lots of hearts Card

Here's a good card worth repeating, and is great for using up scraps of paper. Using a small Marvy punch, punch out 9 hearts. On this card 3 hearts were punched at a time out of the same paper. Apply double stick tape to the back and apply to the card. The word stamp is by Inkadinkado and was stamped with a Versafine Sepia pad onto light pink paper. Two brads were placed on the ends. Then foam tape was added to the back of it as well. Because this was going through the mail, the hearts were not decorated. However, when I did this card again, one time gems were added to the hearts, another time pink pearls were added.

Punched hearts Card

This is a quick and very easy card to do. The hearts were punched out using a pink Marvy punch on to different colored card stock. Beside the heart the word by Stampn'Up!was stamped with dye base pink ink. Then everything was mounted onto the card. If you want your cards to hold up over time, rather than using a stick glue which will dry out, use one of the tape adhesives. There are lots of options out there. I tend to use Scotch brand double stick adhesive that can be mounted onto a tape dispenser. The larger tape guns are more economical, but take up more space. It's a matter of finding what works best for you.

Leaf punch and Baker's String Card

Don't you just love all the colors to Baker's string? Angela's Happy Stamper has got them all! I loaded up and tried out the brown and white on this card. The leaves are punched with Memory Box printed reversable paper. The words were done with a Kalidacolor Autumn pad. Two buttons were glued together and then glued over the sting. The base card is brown cardstock.

Heart Bench Card

This is one of my favorite valentine cards. It's very simple. The image is by Paperbag Studios which was stamped in Versafine Smokey Gray onto white card stock. (This isn't a pure white though. It's a softer white which works will with the gray.) A small red heart was punched out and added to the bench. Then the image was mounted onto grey card stock, and then onto the card. Besides being quick and simple, I really like the message. One of those cards that works well sending it to anyone.

Cinderella Card

I took a friend shopping over the holidays. She was looking for an outfit she could wear to interviews. Thought this card was a humerous reminder that what we wear can help change who we are. The shoe is actually a punch. No stamping on it, printed paper was punched. A self adhesive gem was added to it. The quote was stamped with dye black ink and is from Impression Obsession. Add some printed paper, and you're done.

Amuse Angel

White cards for the holiday is a bit of stretch for me. It's just not the color I naturally gravitate towards. But, I think this card works pretty well. And, happily, it is a simple card to do. The printed paper is by Amuse as well. The angel was punched out with a Marvy punch that you can see are made to stack well. The next size up in a scallop was used for the red. A little satin ribbon was wrapped around and taped and there you are! Copics Cool gray was used to outline the angel and a red and brown and flesh tone were used to comlete the coloring. The words are also by Amuse and stamped with a red Versafine ink.

Holly's Birthday Card

A long time friend had a birthday recently and this is the card I sent her. It was one of those cards that I was really happy how it came together. The white paper was embossed with the Cuttle Bug and one of its folders. Using a black pad, I ran the pad over the raised portions of the paper. Under the words is a piece of black paper punched with one of the Fisker punches. The flowers from Prisma are 2 different pieces but the same color. They come with holes in the middle so all I needed to do was to slide the brad through. The flowers were applied with a piece of double stick tape. The ribbon is from Stampn' UP!

Leaf Punch Card

The orange paper today is actually double sided. It is light orange on one side, and dark orange on the other side. The PSX words were stamped with a Versafine Sepia on the light orange. The leaves were punched and turned so the dark orange showed. To do this line of punches, I started in the middle and then just "eye balled" the rest. I'm not much for precise measuring if I can get away with it. Not the best way to do something, but it works for me (usually). The punched paper was then placed on another piece of the light orange paper and glued down. I think it was a Punch Bunch punch that was used.

Wanted to also share an amazing "why didn't I think of that" idea that someone told me this week. A friend said she had taken some cards I had given her and cut off the front and glued them onto new paper and regifted them. I was pleased she had liked them so much, and loved the recycling concept. Just think how far those cards could potentially go! Just stamp a new sentiment inside each time. Love it!
