Big Hearted love

We've been cleaning out my Dad's apartment. He's been recouping from his major surgery this fall, but he realized he wasn't able to return to his place. He moved into nursing care a few weeks ago. Good for him, but left me to work on clearing out his place over this busy holiday time. Ho, ho, oh heck! Hence, why no New Year cards were made. Anyways, while cleaning I found a stash of cards I had given him and this was amoung them. I really enjoyed making this card. Clean, simple, and yet thought it worked well. The heart was cut from 12X12 printed paper and glued on the card. The circles were punched with Marvy round punches. The words are by Hero Arts and were embossed with white embossing powder.

Hero Decorate Card

This was a fun card to create. It used a clear set by Hero Arts, a Momento red dye pad, a Versamagic pad, and irridesenct glue. Put it all together, and you get a nice quick card. The tag was mounted with foam tape to the card. I created this card for the "Make It Take It" at Angela's Happy Stamper last Thursday. It was a big hit. Merry Christmas Card

We did this card as a Make and Take at the store last week. Wanted to show how simple a card can be and still look nice. This stamp is by Hero Arts. It was inked with Momento Bamboo green dye ink. Then the lights were colored in with Copic Markers. The white card was glue to the green and you are ready to go!

Celebrate Candle

My husband had a birthday this past week. This is the card I did for him. The candle is from a Hero Arts set. It was inked with Momento Black onto the printed paper and cut out. The flame was filled in with a orange marker and then a shimmer pen filled in the center of the flame. The inside message was by Printworks and said, "Let your light shine".

Happy Everything

Just had to say good-bye to dear friends who are moving. I'm anxious to keep in touch, and though this card was a good first one to send to them.It's a nice easy one to make. Just printed paper with a stamped image by Hero Arts. The image was stamped in black on cream paper and then the border was colored in with a yellow marker, mounted up a variety of paper flowers which were attached with a brad and foam tape to the card.A piece of brown velvet ribbon was also used.

Birthday Sprinkles

Been working on some birthday cards. This one uses more of the double sided paper we have at the store. The cupcake paper was punched with a pink Marvy scalloped circle punch. The sentiment is part of a clear set from Hero Arts. The red ribbon was attched with a mini staple.

"D" for Dad

Are you done with your cards for Father's Day? If not, here is one that will fit to letter, so to speak. The "D" is from a Hero Arts Clear set that also included the designs and word used on this card. The "D" was stamped and traced out and placed with foam tape onto the card.

Cork Card

This is a sample that was made for the store. We got in several new items from Canvas Corp which included cork stickers, dotted note cards, and hemp twine. The bike is from a clear set by Hero Arts and was stamped in Versa Fine black. Also stamped in Versa Fine were the letters of the alphabet by Technique Tuesday that were stamped onto the sticky cork. It doesn't show much in the picture, but the flowers were inked with a Distress brown before being added. As was noted in a card last week using cork, it is a surface that works well with stamping.

Hero Arts H2O Card

Hydrangeas are wonderful flowers. On this image they worked perfectly for the technique we used. We took a water based marker and directly colored the rubber and stamped it. Then with a reservoir pen we went back over the stamped image lightly moving the ink to fill in the image and give it more of a water color look. So easy, and fun! Jen showed this idea at our Tuesday demo this week. If you missed it, don't fret, I plan on doing this card as a Make and Take at the store once the stamp comes in from Hero Arts.

Hero Arts Canvas

So here is the first goodie from the show. Hero Arts offered a class using a canvas frame, their stamps, and their collection of Basic Gray papers. We used Perfect Matte Medium to lay torn pieces of tissue paper over the top of the canvas and then added the other pieces. Shari also showed us how to make the stand up paper flower by just cutting a spiral from a circular piece of paper and gluing it together. It doesn't show up well in the photo, but the banner piece has the word "friend" on it. Quick, fun, and easy!

Watercolor roses

The paper used for this card was actually a 12x12 printed piece. Paper that big that needs colored can seem overwhelming, but if you think of it as pieces for cards and cut it ready to use, it's not so bad. That's what I did with this piece. Now I'm only doing this small triangle. To color, I used a blender pen and ink pads. Just touching the tip to the pad, the color was then put on the image. As you push out from the color spot, the effect blends and tones down the color so it all blends nicely. If the paper is damp, you can dry it with a heat gun before attaching it to the card. The words are by Hero Arts and some color was added to the lines. The words were attached with some double sided foam tape.

Hero Arts February Card

This started out as a valentine, but I have a young friend who has a birthday in February, and this seemed to fill the bill. The printed paper was punched with a Mega Giga Marvy punch. The red dots were added by using the new red pearlized glue. All you have to do is squeeze it out and let it dry. (Really liking it!) The words are from one of Hero Arts new clear sets just released in January. Don't remember where I found the clip, but they came in sets of three and thought it added a nice finish to the card.

Dee's card

We have a couple of January birthdays at the store. Dee's is at the end of the month, but I gave her card to her yesterday. Hero Arts put out clear letter sets a few years back, and the "D" set was perfect for Dee. The letter was stamped on the back of the printed paper and cut out. The "E"s were embossed in black and punched out with a circle punch. (They are a little hard to see here. I think they caught the reflection of the flash) The word and flower were part of the set and were stamped with a dye base black ink. Sparkly gems were used on the flowers to complete the card. Dee truely is a delight, and is a cheerful person who likes happy colors, and she likes daisies. So she seemed pleased with this card. Happy birthday, Dee!

Coffee Birthday

Today is the birthday of a friend who loves to drink coffee. Thought this would be a good card to send her. The cup is by Hero Arts. It was stamped with Momento black and then restamped onto brown card stock. The second stamping was only for the coffee wrap which was cut out and glued on top of the first cup. It was the same paper used for the message. A little color was added to the edge of the paper with a sponging tool. The cup was outlined in a Cool Grey Copic. The printed paper is from Memory Box. One of her favorite colors is burgandy, so everything was mounted onto burgandy paper. On the inside flap, another piece of Memory Box paper was attached with double stick tape so a Starbucks gift card could slide into it.

Anniversary Watercolor Card

Still haven't started valentines yet, but did fix up the hearts and love seasonal section at the store and it's getting me motivated. Have a class to do today though, and needed to be ready for that. But, since I'm in a heart mood, I've posted a card I gave my hubby for one of our anniversaries. This stamp is by Hero Arts. I stamped it in dye black and heat set it so it wouldn't bleed from the water. A basic water color palette was used with a reservoir pen (a pen that comes with water in it that flows out continually) and colored in the hearts. As you can see, I purposely didn't try to stay in the lines. I wanted a flow look. Was pleased with how it turned out.

Count your blessings

It's the day after Christmas and I'm sitting here counting my blessings, so thought this card was the right one to post. The stamp is by Hero Arts and is stamped in Versfine Sepia. The leave is a real leaf from a package of leaves, and the whole card is sprayed with a gold mist from a mini mister. Hope you are having a day full of greatfulness. Personally, I'm planning on sitting here most of the day in happy contemplation of all the good Christmas brought for me. Enjoy.

Season's Greetings Card

Before heading out the door to go to the Open House at Angela's Happy Stamper, thought I'd post this card. These stamps are from a couple of clear Hero Art sets. (oh, except the big design stamp from Memeory Box) Folks will tell me they don't know how to use small stamps. Hopefully this card gives you some good ideas! As any designer will tell you, grouping is great. All items were stamped with dye ink (and the edges of the circles and rectangle as well) and a little bit of irridesent dazzle glue was added last. Double foam tape was used to help pop parts and add a bit of depth.

Give thanks Card #5

Back to our theme stamp for the month. Went for a more modern simple look on this card. What is hard to see is that on the white paper I spritzed it with a little bit of Gold Glimmer Mist. It gives it a mottled gold sheen. I ran an orange glaze pen over the wheat and once again, it looks better in person. But, at least this time you can actually see the orange color better.

Time to give thanks #3

This is a plain and simple version of the Hero Arts stamp that I've already shown on two cards. It appealed to me though, because the ribbon and button really make the card. I ran some twine through the button and attached it over the ribbon. The image was stamped with Versafine black. Am thankful my November cards are all done-now back to finishing the Christmas cards.

Owl and friends

What do you do when you can't sleep? I find it's best to get up and go do something else. I like making cards. It helps to clear my head, and when I get tired I then go to bed happy because I've done something fun. Last night I started on Halloween cards. The images here were stamped with a Momento pad and colored in with Copic markers. I also added some color around the edge of the images by sponging it on.
