Angela's Birthday Card

Oh my! I can finally post the card I gave Angela for her birthday. We have been having an on going progression of problems not the least of which is the internet suddenly going out- and that was about two weeks ago. Am very happy to be back on line. As to the card, the bras are all one stamp. It was inked in black and stamped onto a white card and colored in with Copic markers. On a piece of vellum that has sparkels on it, the words were stamped in black. The vellum was overlaid on to the image. All this was then mounted onto the red paper and then onto the card.

Magenta Flower Card

Have you seen that whole section of Magenta stamps at the store? Hare dedicated a whole section for them back by the Distress pads. It looks great, and there are lots of samples that match the stamps that are there. Here is another sample that goes with one of the stamps. The image was inked in black and stamped onto vellum. Once the ink was dry, the paper was turned over and colored in with colored pencils on the back of the vellum. On the card front, a design image was stamped in pink onto the card. Then the vellum was glued onto the front of the card.

Patriotic Card

Maybe it's because we live so close to DC, but I really enjoy sending folks cards that celebrate the Fourth of July. We have lots of celebrations here as you can imagine. This card uses a great printed vellum bacground which was placed over a white paper to help make the image pop. The stamps are by Stampendous and were inked in black. The coloring was done with various markers including a gold pen. The sparkler was enhanced with some red glitter glue.

Vellum Geishas

Didn't make it to Dad yesterday. My flight home was late and I was up early suffering from jet lag. Not a good state to me in for driving. Did get down to the stamp room, but things are still in progress, so I went back through my stash and found this card from a while ago that I liked. Am teased at work at the size of my cards sometimes, but with a wonderful image like this, I let it set the size of what would go around it. So this is a rather large card. It would definitely need an extra large envelope to send it.
The image was stamped with dye ink onto vellum. Once the ink was dry, it was turned over and colored from the back. It was laid across a silver paper and then washi paper was torn and placed over the edges. Then more layering was done. There was a gold krylon run along the final edge of the black paper. I don't usually use gold and silver together, but I think it worked on this piece.

Floral Thanks

If you've been wondering where I've been, I left for CA right after Easter and have been having a great time enjoying the weather and old friends. My one friend who I'm staying with has kept some of the cards I've sent her, so I took a picture of some and will post those till I get home.

This PSX stamp was stamped with dye black ink onto vellum. Then it was colored in on the back with dye base markers. Makes a great card for any occasion, but here I used it as a thank you card. Hope you're having as good a week as I am.

Panda Card

One of the many things to love about DC is the panda exhibit at the zoo. We love our pandas! In fact, they are a part of our major news announced on tv. Our latest news is that it's mating season-and it's not going very well. So, the panda folks are stepping in to help where nature is not. (Honest, this is big news!) Did I mention we love our pandas? So it seemed only appropriate to post a card in tribute to our pandas. This stamp is by Coranado stamps. It was inked in black Versafine on white card stock and cut out. A little bit of color was added with colored pencils. Then the image was glued on black card stock and cut to outline the image. On the large white paper bamboo stalks were inked with green and stamped on the paper. That paper was then over laid with strips of torn green vellum. This was then mounted onto black, then green paper. The pandas were then placed on top. The chinese coin was glue on the side with Diamond glaze. Hopefully we'll have a new little panda to see next year-I'm sure it'll make the news.

Vellum Let it Snow

Forecasters are predicting our first real snow today so it seemed a good day to post this card. The vellum is printed and that is why the words seem light. This vellum is by Magenta. Snowflakes were first stamped onto the brown card with a pigment white pad re inking each time a snowflake was stamped. Then a white piece of torn paper was laid across the front of the card. That way when the vellum was laid over it, you can see the words. Brads were used to attach the vellum. Hope you are ready for the snow!

Holly and Crown of Thorns card

Both of these wreath stamps are by Eureka and are meant to be used to create this dual image. Vellum seemed the best choice so that both images would show up. The holly was embossed in black embossing powder first, then colored in with water based markers on the back. The "Season's greetings" is stamped with dye ink. The under wreath of thorns was stamped in dye based brown and colored in with colored pencils.
The holly is reprsenting the birth of Christ, the thorns represent his death. There is an inside message to go with these stamps as well. These are some of the most unique stamps I've ever used.

Hero tree with vellum

This tree is by Hero Arts. It was colored in with Copic markers. To help enhance the tree, yellow was sponged over the tree. On the side is a piece of vellum. A Great Impression stamp was stamped on the vellum. Color was added on the backside of the vellum with markers. Tompbo makes a great glue stick that you can use with vellum which will dry clear. That was how the vellum was attached to the card.

Vellum Give Thanks Card

The cornstalks are by Northern Woods. They are embossed and then colored in with markers. The stalks are on a light tan cardstalk and then glued onto the darker brown paper so they'll show up better. Behind the stalks is a piece of printed vellum. Under the vellum is a yellow circle that rather looks like an autumn moon. Since I was using vellum I wanted to get the most out of it and thought this worked out pretty well. Can't remember who does the "Give thanks" stamp. The pumpkins are part of the cornstalks. There are only two stamps used on this card.

Embossed tree on vellum

This is a card I did a while ago, but it was on my computer and my patient friend, Laura is helping to get me up and going on my blog. This is a stamp from Paper Parachute. I heat embossed it on vellum with black embossing powder,and then painted on the back with twinkling H2Os.
